Whatever strategies we use to uplift the downtrodden, promote the oppressed, or defend the poor, prayer must be our first priority. The natural eye, the human mind, nor the empathetic heart can search out the will of God without prayer. Prayer turns the natural, human, and empathetic aims of men toward a spiritual reality that confounds the wise, defeats the evil, and heals the hurting. Prayer is our first defense; let us use it without ceasing.
